Baseball’s Opening Day at the Roger Dean Stadium in Jupiter is this Thursday, April 4th against the Jupiter Hammerhead and the Palm Beach Cardinals. The Stadium just hosted two professional teams for their Spring Training, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Miami Marlins.

The stadium is just one of two stadiums to host two Major League Baseball teams every year for Spring Training in Florida. The two teams share the stadium but have separate outdoor batting cages, numerous pitching mounds, conditioning rooms and practice fields. The stadium is also home to four minor leagues and the only stadium in the country to host four minor leagues, the Jupiter Hammerheads, Palm Beach Cardinals, Gulf Coast Marlins, and the Gulf Coast Cardinals.

This Saturday the Flying Fish Paddle Sports is hosting a Spring Stand-Up Paddle Boarding Challenge in Stuart. The event has two features, the first is an Elite 7-mile race, which is open to experienced paddlers only and a more casual “Open” race which is only 3-mile which can be entered into by anyone.

Races will start promptly at 9:00am, race day registration will be from 7:30am to 8:30am. Race fee includes a t-shirt, lunch and beverages. There will be a $250 winner takes all prize for both the men's and women's 7 Mile race and awards will be given to the top three overall in gender and age, for the 7 and 3 mile race. The registration for the 29th Annual Turtle Trot Run is officially open for registration. The Turtle Trot Run is scheduled for Saturday, May 4th, 2019 at Ocean Cay Park in Jupiter.

Runners are welcomed to join in on the Turtle Trot for the 5K race. The 3.1-mile run is along A1A and the Jupiter beach. Runners will start and finish at Ocean Cay Park at Marcinski Road and A1A in Jupiter. Early Registration has ended but Registration for the Trot is now open until March 31st. After March 31st, there will be Late Registration until May 1st. No race day registration is allowed.

Spring Break season is upon us in Palm Beach County. The Palm Beach County School District starts their Spring Break on Saturday, March 16th and the students return back to school on Tuesday, March 26th. Throughout the county there are plenty of activities going on around to keep busy.

The Single Fin Showdown is an annual surf and skim festival held in Stuart. Last year, the Showdown attracted 150 competitors and 1,500 festival spectators. “Single Fin” means that contestants in the event ride 60's and 70's Single Fin Shortboards (provided) for the shortboard divisions and any board 9' and up for the Longboard divisions. 

The Single Fin Showdown is the perfect for families and those interested in watersports like surfing and skimming. The event is meant to bring the surfing community together, and what started in 2009 with a small group of surfers riding vintage single fin surfboards for bragging rights, has evolved into one of the largest one-day, amateur surf and skim festivals in Florida.

The Roger Dean Chevrolet Stadium in Jupiter’s Downtown Abacoa host two professional baseball teams for Spring Training, The Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals.

This weekend, the scheduled is filled with games and fireworks.

On Mondays, the Jupiter Inlet Lighthouse and Museum hosts their weekly Twilight Yoga At The Light. The class welcomes all levels of Yoga and attendees get to experience the serenity of yoga on the Lighthouse deck, under the big banyan tree with the sun setting in the background.

The yoga class is taught by Mary Veal, from Kula Yoga Shala, located in Jupiter. During the outdoor yoga class there is no music, no harsh lights, just the soothing sounds of the water and nature.

All are welcome to attend the class. The cost is $10 dollars per person. Guests are asked to bring their own yoga mats, a flashlight, and water.
