Many confused Cinco De Mayo as Mexico’s Independence Day but, Cinco De Mayo is actually the day that Mexico defeated France in the Battle of Puebla on May 5th, 1862. Mexico’s Independence Day is actually September 16th.

A Kentucky Derby party hosted by the Equine Adoption and Rescue Foundation and Caring Children Clothing Children will be held on Saturday, May 4 from 4:30 to 7:30 pm. This is the second year for the fundraiser, which promises participants a ton of fun.

Early bird tickets are $50 until April 30, and $60 thereafter.

The event will be held at ERAF’s Community Center at 6450 SW Martin Highway in Palm City. Activities will be held outside on the lawn and in the community building. There will also be opportunities to meet the horses and tour the barn.
