There will be nice weather in the forecast just in time for the weekend. Get excited to take a trip offshore this weekend as those that put in time and cover some water will have the best luck!

OFFSHORE- “The best action offshore right now is (for the most part) inside of 200' of water from Palm Beach to Jupiter Inlet.  The kingfish showed up in big numbers this week (as did the commercial fishing fleet) off of Jupiter Inlet.  Drifting live sardines and threadfin herring is the ticket for catching the kings right now, but in a pinch or as a backup a dead sardine on a knocker rig will usually get the job done.” As you are drifting offshore, there could be some late season sail fish and potential to hook up on blackfin tuna. Mutton snappers and cobia may…

Once wealthier than Oprah, Folorunsho Alakija, is another strong female power of the world and she is making her way to West Palm Beach, Florida. Alakija is a Nigerian billionaire who made her money in oil.

According to Forbes Magazine, Folorunsho Alakija’s first company was an upscale fashion label that catered to Nigeria’s elite including the wife of the former military president, Ibrahim Babangida. After her immensely successful careers in fashion and real estate, her journey would begin with oil. Her connection to the former military president paid off: the president later gave Alakija’s company a prospecting license for one of the most lucrative oil fields in Nigeria. The drop in oil prices dented the fortune of Alakija, one of just two women…

Did you happen to know that over the past 20 years, Broward County’s artificial reef program has situated over 75 synthetic reefs on the ocean floor? This is flourishing news for a successful trace for fish and sea life.

South Florida is a diving magnet with luscious reefs with natural and man-made beauty under the surface. A new reef will be dipped and lowered on the bottom of the seafloor in Deerfield Beach, Florida just to add to the growth progression and another home to countless sea creatures.

The new reef is the combination of a public art project of the “Moai” figures that were created in Stuart, Florida and manmade reef materials. The reed is called Rapa Nui, the Polynesian translation of “Easter Island.” This subaquatic and immersed…

On January 23rd, and during the second round of the Humana Challenge, Freddie Jacobson three-putted the 16th hole. Since then, the Patriots have won another Super Bowl, Tiger Woods came back, left, and then came back again, oh and Jacobson hasn't had another three-putt.

In the second round of this past week's RBC Heritage, the Hobe Sound resident broke Luke Donald's record of 483 consecutive holes without a three putt. He didn't stop there though. He went all four rounds without a three putt and heading into his next event his total is at 524. Jacobson is first in three-putt avoidance at .65 percent (the tour average this season is three percent) and he's third in strokes gained/putting.

Jacobson will look to extend his record this week when he…

Fishing Outlook 4.17.15

OFFSHORE: The South Florida fishing action out deep has been a bit scattered far offshore. Closer in, is where you will find the best fishing action for the springtime. The sailfish bite seemed to slow down a bit due to the lack of current and greener waters. That could change any day as the current changes. The Cobia bite is really good in areas of the sand pile. Lots of fish around South Florida, especially near shallower wrecks in the 70’-90’ foot range. Live baits work outstanding such as crabs, pilchards, pinfish, mullet and shrimp.  On the deep side of the Juno Beach, Florida 180' ledge where is a mixed bag of fish and rudder fish and blue runners have tackled the area. Dolphin are caught and scattered among the frigate birds…
