Peanut Island is not only great for swimming, snorkeling and fishing, but you can camp on this beautiful eighty-acre park too.

Peanut Island is located in the Intracoastal Waterway near the Lake Worth Inlet, close to Phil Foster Park, the city of Riviera Beach and the Port of Palm Beach. If you do not have your own transportation to the Island, don’t fret, the Peanut Island Shuttle Boat can get you there. The shuttle runs 7 days a week every 20 minutes from 10:00am – 5:00pm.

The State Park is located just 5 miles north of Jupiter in Martin County between Tequesta and Hobe Sound. The park got its name after a Quaker merchant named Jonathan Dickinson wrecked his boat off Florida’s coast in 1696.

During the second World War, the park serves as an army base and home to Camp Murphy, an army base for the Southern Signal Corps School. Today, you can still see the barracks throughout the park. Following the war, the property was transferred back to the State of Florida from the Government in 1947 to be used as a State Park. With the summer season behind us, what better way to celebrate than an End of the Summer Festival this weekend.

The ChaseN’Tailz KDW Fishing Tournment is hosting an End of the Summer Festival this Saturday in Jupiter. The free family event is taking place at Harbourside Place from 2 pm to 6 pm.

The event will include everything from waterslides, shopping from local vendors, snow cones, beat the bucket, your change to meet Baby Shark and much more.


The Chasen’Tailz is an organization aimed to help improve the lives of sick children and their families by helping to provide financial and emotional assistance. Every year the organization hosts a Fishing Tournament and this year the tournament is this Thursday, September 19th.

This Friday night, the Loggerhead Marinelife Center is hosting their reoccurring popular Sea Turtle Sleepover event.

The Sleepover over is an exclusive overnight event that includes the ultimate slumber party, a tour of the outdoor sea turtle hospital, snacks, movie time, pizza, and activities for aspiring scientists. The Sea Turtle Sleepover is aimed for children ages 8 through 12 years old.

The event begins at 7 pm on Friday, September 20th and the cost is $65 dollars per child. The cost also includes pizza and snacks. The sleepover is a drop off event, but parents and chaperones are welcomed to stay over and participate in all the events throughout the night.

This Saturday, September 21st is International Coastal Clean Up day around the world. International Coastal Clean Up Day is the world’s largest event where volunteers come together to help clean up our beaches and help to protect marine life. The event happens every year and volunteers from over 100 countries head to their local beaches and coastline to show their support for a cleaner ocean.
