Did you happen to know that over the past 20 years, Broward County’s artificial reef program has situated over 75 synthetic reefs on the ocean floor? This is flourishing news for a successful trace for fish and sea life.

South Florida is a diving magnet with luscious reefs with natural and man-made beauty under the surface. A new reef will be dipped and lowered on the bottom of the seafloor in Deerfield Beach, Florida just to add to the growth progression and another home to countless sea creatures.

OFFSHORE: The South Florida fishing action out deep has been a bit scattered far offshore. Closer in, is where you will find the best fishing action for the springtime. The sailfish bite seemed to slow down a bit due to the lack of current and greener waters. That could change any day as the current changes. The Cobia bite is really good in areas of the sand pile. Lots of fish around South Florida, especially near shallower wrecks in the 70’-90’ foot range. Live baits work outstanding such as crabs, pilchards, pinfish, mullet and shrimp.  On the deep side of the Juno Beach, Florida 180' ledge where is a mixed bag of fish and rudder fish and blue runners have tackled the area. Dozens of women enjoy flooding the waters off the southeast coast of South Florida; some even for the first time have gained a new hobby for fishing. Are you ready to learn how to fish from the professionals on the water? The weather is beautiful and the fishing this time of year is nonstop!

Women, men and teenagers are all welcome to get involved in the South Florida “Ladies, Let's go Fishing!” event at the University at the I.T. Parker Community Center in Dania Beach, Florida this weekend. Looks like an enjoyable weather forecast coming up for the weekend! The winds are Southeast and the South Florida waters are getting prepped up for the springtime fish bite!

OFFSHORE- The action has definitely perked up for the springtime! The dolphin bite has been great on all the South Florida Inlets and in theory should continue to do well through the weekend. The big dolphins are out 15-20 miles offshore and even biting closer in under the frigate birds. Reports have claimed over 40 pound dolphins are being brought up to the boat. The Marine Industries Association of South Florida founded the Plywood Regatta in 1996 and has assembled some major enthusiasm of recreational boating to endure on “Building Boating’s Future… Today!” 

A max of 40 teams of undergraduates can participate in the Plywood Regatta in Dania Beach, Florida. Students from middle school, high school and marine technical school will attempt to build a sea vessel on Saturday, April 11, 2015 only using modest hand tools and supplies that are provided such as plywood, seal and zip ties!



The participating students will then help each other decorate their sea worthy vessels.
