The River Center in Jupiter collaborates with the US Coast Guard Auxiliary several times a year to provide a series of Boating Safety Classes. The classes are targeted to attract young boaters in our community, however the class welcomes all ages who want to learn the importance of safety on the water.

The classes are put together through the sponsorship of the AustinBlu Foundation, a non-profit aimed to raise awareness and to promote educational programs and classes for boating safety.

The "Little Free Library" project is a new trend that's becoming popular all over the world. The Little Free Library is a mailbox/birdhouse wooden box on a post where neighbors can "take a book, leave a book."

The Jerry Thomas Elementary School in Jupiter unveiled their first Little Library on their front lawn on June 1st. Kids were bouncing up and down in line to grab the books and the excitement was encouraging to the community. Now Jupiter plans to open eight more and one will even be a recreation of the Jupiter Lighthouse.

The Hobe Sound Murals Project was started in 2009 by professional local artist Nadia Utto and her "paint the town" initiative. 

You can currently find about 20 murals around the small beach town created by Nadia and 40 other artists along with the help of 100 residents and visitors. 

The purpose of the project is to "beautify specific locations, enhance civic pride, encourage positive networking and plant seeds for future cultural accomplishments."

The murals will send you on a treasure hunt, as each painting has a hidden aspect somewhere on the wall. You have to go to the Hobe Sound Chamber of Commerce to pick up a Mural Project Tour Map which will tell you what to look for.

This upcoming Sunday is Father’s Day and the Royal Palm Beach Commons in Royal Palm Beach is hosting a 5K run and Family Fun run to raise money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. The money raised will be donated to help with research and to help find a cure to end blood cancers.

The event is a family affair and has something for everyone to participate. This year the run enters in its 6th year and has moved from Wellington to Royal Palm Beach to accommodate more people for the runs. The Royal Palm Beach Commons has over 163 acres filled with great running trails ad paths, a large dog park, children’s playgrounds, picnic pavilions, golf, a 19-acre lake and much more.

Dancing with the Martin Stars is a charity event that benefits the Healthy Start Coalition in Martin County. The event will feature eight participants dancing onstage to raise money on September 22nd at the Lyric Theatre in Stuart.

The finalist will be partnered with professional dancers who will teach them the techniques and dance styles. The dance styles will include the Tango and ballroom dancing such as the Mambo, Samba, Charleston and the Cha-Cha.

Last year, the event raised over $143,000 dollars and the event plans to raise more than last year. The popular teppanyaki restaurant, Benihana, has locations all over the country- but the closest ones to Palm Beach County were in Stuart and Coral Springs, up until last week. The corporation finally opened a sleek-looking new freestanding restaurant in Boca Raton so we can now enjoy dinner and a show right here in town.

The new location is 8,000 square-feet with 21 teppanyaki tables. (Teppanyaki tables are communal dining tables that have teppan grills on one side so you can watch the chefs make your plate fresh. The chefs put on a fun little show while you're watching them cook, doing things like making onion volcanoes and shaping the food into fun designs). The Coral Sky Amphitheatre in West Palm Beach has an awesome lineup of summer concerts coming up.
